Last year our stock of machines saw a new major addition – Kolbus Casemaker DA 260. This automatic machine enables us to produce sophisticated, highly-processed cases for half-bound books.
The half-binding type of case has a specific design, where the casewrap is made from three sheets (one for each surface of the cover). The case boards and the spine can be made with different materials, e.g. cloth, paper or eco-leather, so up to three materials can be used to make a cover. Half-binding works well for ‘vintage style’ publications, for example, due to their content. It is also perfect for elegant poetry volumes, scientific works and special notebooks. Kolbus Casemaker can also make half-bound cases with polyurethane foam, which makes them thicker and soft to touch on the outside. The new binding setup also allows us to produce wall calendar components (so-called heads).
Thanks to this new system, we have extended our production capabilities while offering faster turnaround times and high quality.

The case is made of Coffee Paper 120 gsm, containing 5% coffee waste and 95% recycled fibres, and the spine of Geltex 115 gsm CN 185. The paper block inside is Nautilus Classic 120 gsm, which is 100% wastepaper, and the end papers are made of Geltex 115 gsm LS 185.
